Product Recalls Car Seat Recommendations Traveling with Children Center for Disease Welcome TAPAC COVID19 Update We would like to give you information on our plans at TAPAC for handling the COVID/Coronavirus outbreak SHOUD IT OCCUR in our area. Our main concern is the health and wellbeing of our patients and their families. There are currently NO COVID cases documented in NW lower Michigan but as this is a rapidly changing situation, we would like to be prepared. We understand there is a lot of fear and concern right now. The sensationalism and nonstop coverage from the media may make it difficult to respond rationally. Fortunately, children have been having lesser sever infections. Children are exposed to many other coronaviruses every winter and this is thought to be one of the reasons why the infection is less sever in younger people. However, they can expose others who may be at greater risk for more sever outcomes. In the event of a local outbreak we will be strongly encouraging the following. We are asking families to limit the number of caregivers bringing the child into the office. We are asking families to bring only the patient to the office, no siblings if it can be helped. We are asking people over 60 to avoid the office unless there is absolutely no alternatives. If you think your child needs medical attention please call us and we will arrange appropriate care. We are NOT currently testing for COVID19 in the office and hospitals are not testing unless there is a travel history or known direct exposure. Most ERs consult with infectious disease specialists or the local health department. Walk in testing is not available. Remember that washing hands and being aware of our surroundings is very important to staying healthy. There is no current need to wear masks unless instructed by medical professionals. The most important aspect is to remain calm and rational. We are available to answer any questions you may have regarding your child and to see them in the office if necessary. If you feel that your child needs to be seen please call to schedule an appointment rather than waling into the office. We are taking steps in the office to limit the spread of infection. Office procedures may change as the local situation changes. We will update information as we receive it on our website and Facebook page.
